2023-05-20 07.14.30.jpg

7 am

Arrive early - before 8am.
At the gate, someone will check your event registration, hand you your wrist band, drive- and work assignment, and have you sign a waiver.Park your car in the pit area and empty it from any lose objects. If you have items, bring a storage container, that you can leave in your parking spot.
Leave your helmet in your seat, and open trunk and hood for the following tech inspection.
Then, hang out with others for a chat or walk the course.

Tech Inspection

We have a list of things that will be checked for everybody’s safety reasons. You do not need to be present for this:
Brake pads, and brake pedal need to be in good working order.

Seatbelts are mandatory. No lose seats, or any other lose objects in car. No wheel play, lug nuts tightened, battery securely mounted. Approved helmet present. And: ABSOLUTELY NO FLUID LEAKS!

Course Walking

We usually publish the course layout a few days ahead of the event. After you arrived and parked your car for tech inspection, we highly recommend to walk the course as much as you can. Walk it several times, maybe even back and fourth - to get familiar with it. This is underrated by a lot of participants but will you make a lot quicker, when you don't need to think about where you are going.
We also have seasoned drivers, who are happy to help with this and point out tricky parts.

Safety brief / driver's meeting

This is mandatory. Prior to racing, we go through a safety brief, explaining what to do in case of emergency, when cones are run over, cars are off-course or drivers get lost, how to use the radios, fire extinguishers, flags.
There is a lot to mention - but safety is priority #1!

Racing

At the gate, you were told which run group you are in.
This changes from event to event, depending on course length,  layout, and the number of participants. You will be in a run group once in the morning, and once in the afternoon. Each run group will race for at least 6 laps - for a total of 12 laps! While this doesn't sound much, iti’ way not only more, than at most other AX events! Get in line of you run group. Once at the start, a starter will give you the go. Take it easy on the first lap, get familiar with your car, track, and where corner workers are positioned.

Corner Working

When you are not racing, or pausing, you are probably out on the course and make autocross possible. These events would be impossible without volunteers. They are making sure, that others can safely race and place cones exactly back where they belong, to make it fair for everybody. Also, they radio hit cones to timing for final results.
Also, it’s really the best way to study the course: watch how others tackle sections or make mistakes, that you later can avoid.

Trophies too!

Of course there will be some sort of reward :-)

We hand out a trophy for the overall fastest driver of the day.
As that winner may be obvious already at the beginning of the event - due to a high-powered purpose-built car - we have another trophy: the PAX winner. Similar to a golf handicap, we adjust the actual race time to the driver's level and the vehicle. We even have a novice bonus. That way even a novice in his mom's grocery getter may have a chance for an overall win!
Last but not least, there is another trophy: the cone killer awward. No explanation needed - LOL

Event end

We are a small community of racing enthusiasts - and need your help. Not only when we setup the course the evening before, but also once the event is done and we have to pack-up everything.
So, please, stay all the way to the end of the event, and give us a hand, stacking cones, gathering trash, loading the trailer, or whatever. We sure all will appreciate it.

See you next time on the grid!
